Exce11ence: Or, It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

WOOOOOO!!!

Around here, there's a very special event that marks the beginning of the Christmas season.  It is perhaps more important than Santa's arrival at Harold Square (Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, for those unfamiliar).  For my family, this event takes the place of the common Christmas party.  It is an event steeped in tradition, with ups and downs and lots of yelling, singing, nail-biting, and beer consumption.  It is... the Army-Navy football game.

Yes, folks, we are a Navy family.  My dad went to the Naval Academy and was a P-3 pilot and flight instructor.  Most of our family friends are Navy folks, too, and we're very close.  So every year, my parents host a small get-together with what I call my "Navy family" to watch the year's most important football game.  There's always lots of food, lots of noise, and LOTS of blue and gold :)

The friend in the blue chair is wearing his bathrobe from the Academy - it has faded from navy blue to purple.  That's my dad and Mr. Pocket on the couch.

Proudly sporting my Navy jersey - not as spiff as the game jerseys they had on today though.

Like I said - FOOD!

I made mulled white wine this year.  Yum!

It was a close game, and one that meant a lot.  Army-Navy always means a lot, being a sort of brotherly rivalry, and one that's really important to the cadets and the midshipmen.  This year, the mids were trying to keep up their winning streak to make this their 11th straight win against Army - coining the tagline "Exce11ence."  Army was fighting to get their first win against Navy since 2001.  And for both teams, winning meant taking home the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy, awarded each year to whichever service academy defeats both of the others in football - and both Army and Navy defeated Air Force this season (yay!).  In the end, Navy squeaked out a win, taking home the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy and their 11th win.  And for me and my family, the Christmas season can now begin in earnest, and it begins with the gift of Exce11ence :)

What's the worst that could happen?

OMG SEMESTER'S OVER!!!!!

And I start summer classes next week. Hmm.

I like learning stuff, it's the homework part that I dislike about school. It keeps me from doing crafty things. Although, to be fair, something else has kept me from my crafting recently. Class has been out for over a week now.

I picked up Twilight a while ago. How bad could it be? What's the worst that could happen? I get addicted like all the tweenie Twi-hards? Well, YES. I got completely sucked in. Read the first two books slowly during the semester, and read the second two in the week since class ended. Damn. I haven't done anything else. Work and read. Read and work. It's kinda scary how sucked into things I get. Oh, and for the record, Jacob Black is the MAN.

And last week was Sheep & Wool. I could only go on Sunday, because I had my last class on Saturday. (Did not keep me from getting to Pam's house that night for awesome party time! I'm so glad I got to meet/see everybody!) It was supposed to rain on Sunday. What's the worst that could happen? I have a raincoat and galoshes. No biggie, right? Well, mostly right. If you can ignore being soggy and miserable. Which miraculously I did, well, mostly. Let's just say that by the time I got home, I was really glad I got sheepskin slippers.

So I finally finished the mittens of doom. No more school means no more reason to not spend the time figuring out how to cross-stitch. (Oh yeah, I didn't mention that fact when I said I'd cross-stitch the letters on after the crochet was done? My bad.) So now I get to start my Raven shawl! I'm rinsing all the skeins first, to make sure I don't have any, er, surprises (dye-related ones) when it's finished and I wash/block it. I've got the first two skeins soaking now. What's the worst that can happen?

SQUEEEEEEE!!!!

A couple of weeks ago, I put in an order on the magical interwebs. This order was to be from Stansborough Farm. These are the people who made the elven cloaks for the Lord of the Rings movies, and these are the people who made the woolen items for -- oh yes -- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Many of you know that I adore Mr. Tumnus. Especially as portrayed by the scrumptious and insanely talented Mr. James McAvoy. And I lurrrve his scarf. That red woolen muffler that he wears so casually draped around his neck. The one of which there are precious few good screencaps, because there are precious few closeups in the movie. At any rate, I have already made one attempt at recreating said scarf. It's passable, but not as accurate as I'd like. So I decided that I'd like to make a new one, a better one. And this time, I went to the source.

The aformentioned order placed on the magical interwebs was for three balls of Stansborough Fibres' knitting wool, a luscious wool/angora blend that they claim to have used in the movie scarf. And guess what?

IT ARRIVED TODAY!!!

It's fabulous. It's not as thick or as soft or as bright as I'd expected. But it's beautiful and the fact that it's so rare (they only produce limited quantities) and special makes me soooo happy! Also, I'm certain it'll bloom and soften up once it's been washed.

What? Oh, right! The pictures!!!

tumnusyarn9

tumnusyarn7
Such a beautiful deep red! And this isn't really even accurate. It's just the closest I could get. It's even darker than this in person. But perhaps that's why the scarf in the movie looks brighter? Because it photographs brighter? Who knows...

tumnusyarn2
This is more like the true color.

tumnusyarn8

Nom nom nom...

This cheers me up from the fact that alas, I will not have a post ready for Michelle Ward's Crusade for January. I'll still post what I have when I finish, but it won't be in time for the deadline. Very disappointed in myself. But I refuse to be sad now! I have New Zealand wool! And it's a unique breed and it's TUMNUS YARN!!!!

Obsession Confession

Alright, alright! I'll talk!

Ever since she was kind enough to comment on my post, I've been reading Michelle Ward's blog. I've always admired her work in Somerset Studio. Little did I know that we seem to have a lot of the same tastes. I mean come on; gothic style fan, HIM fan, uses a lot of architecture and gothic elements in her design work... To those of you who know me in real life, does that not sound like ALL of my favorite things?

Anyway, she's got a street team. And the Crusades for this street team are really more like creative challenges. The most recent of which is to share something (or things) that you have a "crush" on. Person, place, or thing. Anybody that knows me knows that I have kind of an obsessive personality, and so I fixate on something for a while, only to move on to the next shiny object later. Because of this, I had a hard time thinking of anything I could post as a single, sustained "crush." Well, on the very last possible day to join in, I finally have a post.

I, Carrie, have a crush on crosses.

Being Catholic (or Catholic-ish), I do place a personal and spiritual value on them. But I also find them aesthetically pleasing, thrilling even. I know, it's probably a little weird. But I just love crosses. Latin, Greek, Maltese (my favorite), Jerusalem (my other favorite), embellished, plain, crucifix, stone, wood, metal, painted, I just love them. You might say I'm a connoiseur of crosses.

Michelle Ward's "Graven" set of unmounted rubber stamps caught my fancy as soon as I saw them. They are the most beautiful collection of crosses and related motifs. I had to have them. Well, they arrived today, and I have just been in such a good mood. Not only that, but I also decided that hmm, I DO have a crush to post!

I gathered some of my things with crosses for a photoshoot. I'm sure I have other stuff scattered about the house, but this is the stuff I could lay my hands on (and remembered where it all was!) and that I knew is my favorite stuff.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

True to form, it's a sorta crappy photograph. Sorry. I really need to work on my photography skills. At any rate, ignoring the poor quality of the picture, the items featured are as follows, from left to right:
1. the shirt I bought at my first Billy Idol concert in 2003. Incidentally, Billy Idol is also fond of crosses. (And no, the autograph on the shirt is not real, it's printed. The real one is on my concert pants!)
2. (on top of the shirt) a cross that I bought to wear with my SCA garb.
3. the Graven sheet
4. (on top of the rubber) the necklace I wear almost every day. (closeup to follow)
5. two of my favorite belts. The one on top is identical to the one I spotted on my best friend not long after we met, and I'd been looking for one like it. Found it at PacSun. The one below that, with the huge buckle, is from New York and Company.

The necklace I wear most days has two very meaningful pendants. One is a Jerusalem cross that I bought to wear in my friend's show Last Rights. The other is a medal of Our Lady of Perpetual Help that I bought on my high school senior retreat.

So there you have it. I've come clean. I love crosses, and I'm not ashamed!

Pilgrimage

(Warning: Photo-heavy post. May take excruciatingly long to load.)

A couple of years ago, my best friend Murphy and I were listening to Eddie Izzard's Dress To Kill performance for the gazillionth time, and the part about Stonehenge in particular.

And it was then that Murph told me about the most glorious place in the world. It is a magical place, full of wonder and mystery. This place... is Foamhenge.

...

Yes, Foamhenge.

Right near the Natural Bridge in southwestern Virginia, a sculptor created a lifesize replica of Stonehenge, and he made it entirely out of styrofoam. I decided and Murph agreed that we must visit this place. We told our friend H and it was a plan. After all, Murph is from very near there, and even has a vacation spot on a nearby lake. The Plan became elaborate and perfect. And promptly took its place on the backburner for at least a year and a half.

Well, this past weekend, we finally made our pilgrimage to Foamhenge. Here is where I will let the photos take over and tell the story:

Probably nobody should be as excited as we were about a henge made of foam. But it was a very good day.

HIMday!

I know, another WiP Wednesday with no WiPs. I promise, it's just because I have no noticeable progress to record. Also, it's been a busy week, trying to stay on top of things for Ragtime, for which rehearsals started this week. There are 42 cast members. There is one of me taking their measurements. I only got halfway through the cast on Monday, so I have to do the rest tonight. Fortunately, I think there will be people to help me manage the wardrobe backstage during the shows. 42 is a lot of people. On the bright side, I think I know The Question now.

Also, it's football season, which brings with it its own projects. I need to get to work on fingerless gloves and hats for tailgating. So much to do!

But most importantly, the new HIM album came out yesterday! I couldn't get it until late at night, so I'm finally listening to it this morning. It's AWESOME. As expected. Everyone needs a copy. Go forth all of you! Seek out Venus Doom (it's the one with the really ugly painting on the cover). Buy it. Swoon over Ville's voice. Enjoy the music. It's the reason we were put here on this earth.

On Why the RenFest is a Mixed Blessing

Never thought it would be my parents encouraging me to buy a leather bustier.

Alex, I would expect. My best girlfriend Murph, I would expect. Pam, I would expect.

Did not expect my parents.

But they did. And I bought it. And it's hott. Yes, with two "t"s.
(ETA, by popular demand) The item in question:
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Please pardon the different plaid shoelaces. Trust me, they're better (at least temporarily) than the ridiculous laces that were in it when I bought it, which were so stiff they stuck out on their own.

And now that I have an item for pirate garb, I would say I spent my limit today at the faire. Certainly. And probably will once again, the next time I go.

Which will not be until next month. Sad. And yet, very okay with that.

Also, I now have a desire to pick my recorders back up again. I have a soprano recorder and an alto recorder. Beyond that my hands just aren't big enough to play. But this is brought on by the fact that I've been thinking about it for a while and by the discovery today of a music ensemble I'd not seen before. (Ironic, seeing as how they play right before my favorite, The Pyrates Royale.) This ensemble is called Cercamon. And I am not ashamed to say that they stuck in my mind not only because of their fantastic medieval music but also because their frontman is absolutely beautiful. He is a gorgeous man. I noticed that after I noticed an instance of this: two at once. I've only seen that in pictures.

While I was at the RenFest and shopping in a WONDERFUL accessory shop, my dad's friend commented to me that I should be designing clothes for a living. Truer words were never spoken. I do still have a desire to work with medieval manuscripts and stay involved in the study of the middle ages, but really? I would be so happy to design and make stuff all the time. Of course I'd still have other hobbies. But my work would be so much more like play. And that would be fine with me. If I could feasibly quit my day job and spin/crochet/knit/sew/design all day, that would be wonderful. Alas, I cannot, and it's not that I don't like my job at all, it's just that I much prefer doing those things. That's what I really think about all day while I'm working. Most people zone out thinking about what they're going to do over the weekend, where they're going to go for dinner, whether that hottie at the bar last night is really going to call him/her... I zone out and think up new and interesting ways to make threads wearable. Now I am already signed on to design for my friend's next summer show, and that's really preoccupying my mind. Most of what I'm thinking about has to do with costumes and visuals for that show. Ohhh how I can't wait for next summer...

And for my next trip to the RenFest. Feathered hat, here I come!

Combination Thursday

I suck at this game. Haven't posted in over a week again. Lame... I'll just have to combine yesterday's WiP post and tomorrow's Yarn Pr0n.

Anywho, I've got new stuff going on. Got a new design in the works, which I've got pics of in progress, and I've got a gig doing costumes for Ragtime. A little intimidating. And by "a little" I mean "a lot." Granted, I won't be building the costumes myself, we're going to be renting them. But still. That's a big show to manage. *gulp*

Meanwhile, I've still got the Razor Cami on the needles.

But look!

Ten inches done!!!

And, as I said, I've got a new design in the works. It's a shawl. I'm hoping it's gonnna turn out the way I've planned.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

And the yarn pr0n? It's the yarn I'm using for my new design! Mountain Colors Half-Crepe, in the Eureka colorway.

Yum, right?

By the way, is it Fall yet? I love Summer, but I'm very ready for Fall to be here. I'm getting psyched about Halloween. It's putting me in quite the Gothic mood. And this, from the new issue of Somerset Studio, made me gleefully Gothic. It's from the article "Model Behavior" by Michelle Ward (apologies for the crappy photos).
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Who's that dapper gentleman on stage left?

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Why, I do believe it's Ville Valo! *squee* Only, ya know, one of my ALL TIME favorite singers, from one of my ALL TIME favorite bands. Perhaps even #1 for me, though that's tough what with Blackmore's Night, David Bowie, The Beatles, and The Monkees around. Yes, I'm weird. But yeah, I've been flipping through The Victorian Trading Co. catalog repeatedly, looking at all their Halloween stuff, not to mention their usual merchandise. Gaaahhh! Is it Halloween time yet??? No, no... I can be patient... I can wait... Really...

The other thing that Fall brings is the Renaissance Festival. Oh yes. Can't wait to go! It's open, but this is me not braving the heat to go to the RenFest. I'll go, yes, but not yet. Also an opportunity for Gothic fun, by the way. Just a slightly different kind of Gothic. Whee!

I also need to order some superwash wool in navy blue and in gold. Football season is starting soon, there's a lot of gear I need to make for tailgates!

Gaaahhh, so much to do, so little time! EEEEP!!!

"I don't drink coffee, I'll take tea, my dear..."

I know. Some trendsetter I am. Along with my lack of networking skills, I have no new spinning to display on this Handspun Monday. Still just working on the same stuff. Partly, though, it's because I've been taking some of my spare time to *gasp* read. Something I used to love to do, and now rarely partake of. And the book I'm reading is wonderful. It's not classic literature, it's not post-modern intellectualism, it's not even culture-sweepingly popular. It's just a sweet little cozy mystery set in Charleston, South Carolina and starring a tea shop owner. The Jasmine Moon Murder is making me really miss my tea-shop days. I mean really. So I'm once again on a tea-buying binge. I'm trying to control it and buy only small quantities. I'm also trying not to spend all day on www.teachat.com. At least my tea habit is less expensive than my yarn habit. At least, it will be as long as I avoid the mega-expensive super-rare extra-fine imperial-quality white teas...

Overload!

So, yarn safaris are wonderful and horrible. On Friday, after work, I went to the Eastern Shore with a friend from work so that we could check out the yarn shops in Easton and St. Michael's. And I spent wayyyy too much money. But I bought some beautiful stuff, including more Blue Heron Yarns (*squee!*) and you'll get to see some as Friday Yarn Pr0n. My friend had better self control than I did, but she got some Blue Heron too. I think it's my new favorite yarn. *sigh*

Also, the chainmaille beginner kits that said friend and I ordered came in on Friday. WOOOOT!!! I'm so psyched. I have super awesome plans for chainmaille. At least I hope they're super awesome. They could, I suppose, turn out to be super lame. But I'm going with super awesome.

So all of this happened on Friday. Why am I not posting until Sunday night? Well, because on Friday when I got home I crashed hard. And yesterday, my trivia team went to play in the quarterfinals for our trivia tournament. We came in third!!! WOOOOO! We were actually kinda surprised we did so well... And after that, my man and I went to hang out with Pam and her friends because she was awesome and invited us. It was a great time; Pam has awesome friends. And she kicks my butt at Karaoke Revolution. I need to practice more. ;)

Also, we just got new internet service, so I had to coax my computer to connect to the new network. I definitely need a new computer, one that's not senile. Any recommendations?

All this while I really want to get moving on quite a few crafts. I've gotta keep making progress on my Razor Cami, can't wait to get together with my friend outside of work so we can start learning maille, I've got design ideas I want to work on, a book I'm trying to read, and I want to get more time on my wheel. Oh and I have fleece to scour. Half of which has been in the trunk of my car for weeks. Ummm... gotta go...

Message in a Bottle

Okay, I did it again. I flaked out of a whole week. But I promise, I just wasn't home much so I wasn't around my computer. Which is getting to be an old excuse. And especially lame because of the excitement that I should've posted Saturday morning.

What is this excitement, you ask?

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOO I GOT TO SEE THE POLICE IN CONCERT ON FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!

OMGz it was freaking amazing. I had gotten tickets for my man (who is my enabler when it comes to The Police, as well as Sting's solo music) and my best friend, and another very good friend and her mom who is also a good friend, and so we drove to Hershey Park on Friday and had a blast. The seats weren't so great cos I didn't get tickets as early as I could've, but from my man's back I could see, and my friend's mom was the only other short person, so we were okay. Holy crap, STING! And Andy Summers! And, oh yeah, Stewart Copeland. Jerkface. I'm sorry, talking smack about your own reunion tour when you're not even two weeks into it? Lame. If he was still bitter, he shouldn't have signed on. But it didn't keep him or the others from playing awesomely. What a fantastic concert. I'm still excited about it. Wheeee!!!

And after that the weekend was busy anyway. Company on Saturday, and on Sunday I went shopping with my parents and *gasp* found pants that fit me! I am inordinately excited about this. Almost as excited as about seeing The Police. That's right. Almost.

But now it's Monday, and aside from being back to the daily grind that is life in the "real world" *pshaw*, it's also time to post some handspun goodness :) So here we have the llama that I got at MDS&W, all combed and being spun on my glorious olivewood Spindlewood spindle. Aside from the spindle itself being a dream to spin on (despite the slippery-and-breaky-ness of the llama), Steve, the guy that makes them, is a wonderful person and very accomodating. He emailed back and forth with me when I contacted him to order a spindle, trying to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. I couldn't be more pleased with the spindle. So here it is, complete with fiber and thread-like spun llama:

The wood is ever so slightly warmer toned than that, but as I've said before, my photography skillz are somewhat lacking. And yes, I spelled that with a "z".

P.S. After posting the above, I made a button of my own for Handspun Mondays. I know, people aren't really doing Handspun Monday very regularly, and those who do are few. But here it is, and should this ever become a trend, and should anybody want it, feel free to save it to your own computer and upload it to your blog. A nod in my direction would be nice, too, but I'm not gonna be hard-nosed and insist on credit.

Magnificent Monday

Well, sorry, I totally buggered out of WiP Wednesday AND Yarn Pr0n Friday last week. I wasn't home much, as usual. Mom keeps telling me I gotta get out of that habit. But hey, I did start a new project! I started that Razor Cami that I linked to in my last post. Let me tell you, that whole continental knitting thing is AMAZING. So much faster. A lot more like crochet, actually. I like it much better, and I think I might actually *gasp* enjoy knitting! Wow! And the baby blanket? Is on the backburner for a few days. Every time I tried to work on it the past week, I end up frogging as much as I crochet because I end up with mistakes at the beginnings of rows, which I don't notice until I get back there by the end of the next row. Very frustrating.

So where's the handspun? I know you're thinking it. I haven't done much spinning, and certainly haven't been spinning anything new, except that yesterday I went to my monthly spinning guild get-together, and I bought a couple of merino rovings that I just couldn't resist. The couple that hosts the guild has their own fiber preparation and dyeing business, and their rovings are beautiful. One of the ones I got is a colorway called "Denim." I've been wanting to make a shawl that I can grab and throw on with jeans and whatever I happen to be wearing with them, thus it must be a neutral or the same general color as the jeans. So when I saw the "Denim" roving I just knew that I'd have to make said shawl with my own homespun. Hopefully I'll be able to spin enough; it doesn't need to be a big shawl, but I'd like it to be big enough to cover more than my shoulders. Anyway, I'll quit yakking and get on with the pictures. First, the roving itself:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

And here's how it spins up:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

YUM. It's wonderful.

In other news, there are two or three obsessions competing for brain space right now. Psych, Transformers, and The Magnificent Seven. Let's for a moment take Transformers. The movie is beyond fantastic. It's everything a summer blockbuster should be. Don't believe me? See it yourself. Now, this does have a relevance to my blog. I've gotten the crazy idea to do Transformers themed yarns. I've got an idea for a yarn to correspond to each Autobot. No Decepticon ideas yet. Decepticons are boring and nowhere near as cool as Autobots anyway. But maybe by the fall or winter you'll see *gasp* art yarns here, inspired by the Transformers!

Another of my obsessions, and one which I haven't managed to work into my craftiness yet, is The Magnificent Seven. Not the movie, no. The television show. See, my best friend got me hooked while we were at college, and now that the show is on DVD we each have both seasons. Season two came out just recently, so I just got it a couple weeks ago, and I'm obsessed all over again. So it's not at all relevant, but I thought I'd share this absolutely perfect fan-made music video I found on YouTube. Enjoy:

What? Monday?

Okay, I'm lame. I haven't spun much this past week, but I did take pictures of some handspun that had yet to be documented (and yet to be set, but that's another story). However (there's always one of those, isn't there?), the batteries in my camera died before I could transfer the pics to my computer, and as it was already way past my bedtime I was not about to go hunting for new batteries OR my recharger for my tapped out rechargeable batteries. I know, lame. So I might post pictures tonight. If I do, though, it'll be late, because the Transformers movie comes out tomorrow, and I'll be at the first advance showing of it tonight at 8 (can someone please explain to me why they don't just stick to releasing movies on the release date? Midnight's one thing, but 8 pm the night before it's technically released? Come on...) because my boy is out of his MIND with excitement. I see an Autobot hat or scarf in his future. But anyway, that means I won't be home this evening to upload pictures. Sorry. I feel ridiculous, trying to start a trend and not even sticking to it myself.

Anyway, there's other stuff to post too. Yesterday the boy and I went with my parents to the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival. While it wasn't quite as cool as other years, it was pretty good. There were weavers from the Mekong River area, working on ikat fabrics that were unbelievably beautiful. And there was embroidery and crochet from Northern Ireland. And HATS. Oh my, the hats. I should've brought a camera, but I'm dumb (and the batteries were low anyway, remember?). This lady makes the most spectacular hats. They had feathers and were beautiful colors and I wish I could've taken one home with me. But alas, I'm sure they're also exorbitantly expensive. Oh well. Anyway, it was a fun time, anybody in the general area should try and get the chance to go this week.

Presents!

My man is wonderful. See, we've been having a bit of a rough spot, as people do, and he felt maybe we need to get back to the romance and the sweet little things that we used to do for each other but let slip recently. So I come home from work to this:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

He had taken his afternoon after work and run around accumulating things for me to enjoy on my evening that I'd claimed all for myself, and sneakily dropped it off at my house before I got home. My man is wonderful.

And so this week's yarn pr0n is going to be from the gift basket. It's Lion Brand Homespun in Gothic. Who knew humble Lion Brand Homespun could be so beautiful? Maybe that's the sentimentality in me talking.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I confess, I like Homespun. A lot. It's just so damn cozy. And the two skeins of it that my wonderful man gave me today are going to become something warm for football season. Which is only two months and... 15 days? away. Go Ravens!

And, just an update: I spun a skein of yarn on Ford today! Spun, plied, and cabled! The cabling was a pain, because I got it snarled right at the beginning, so that made the whole process difficult. But it turned out almost completely balanced. Yay! I'm withholding pics until Handspun Monday.

Also, I'm starting to feel pretty down on myself as an aspiring designer. I haven't designed much of anything in a while. I certainly haven't been particularly productive in crochet or knitting. Mostly in spinning. There are projects that I need to finish on a deadline right now, and then I've got a to-do list as long as my arm. The problem is, only two or three of the projects on said to-do list are originals. I was going to write up a pattern for Gryphon, but I didn't because I wasn't pleased with the prototype. Now I might have another one I can do for her, but I don't know if it'll work and I need to actually get to doing one up, and frankly I'm terrified that it's going to turn out to be not so brilliant after all. Argh.

That's it, I need to stop ranting and go to bed. Just gotta focus on my presents and let it all go. Because my man is wonderful.

Day of Awesomeness

Today was a day full of awesomeness. First, behold:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Following a conversation with a coworker, I went investigating into the possible return of that greatest of all sodas, Vanilla Coke. Sure enough, they've brought back this nectar of the gods, much to the pleasure of those like me, who once was dubbed "the Vanilla Coke Goddess." Seriously, when I found out, I was bouncing around. No joke.

Secondly, and probably more awesomely, when my dad got home from work, he commented that there was a large box on the doorstep. Could that be...?

Say hello, Ford!

"Hello, Ford!"

Nice.

Isn't he cute? I know, he looks just like Zaphod. But hey, they're semi-half brothers, after all. They share three of the same mothers.

So consequently, this has been a thoroughly awesome day. Well, thoroughly awesome afternoon, at least. One or two more things though. First, this is ganked from Pam:

PocketSize --

[noun]:

A real life muppet

Totally true.

Also, she tagged me. I forgot (conveniently). But I'll be a good sport and tell you 7 random things about me, but I don't know 7 other people to tag, so the chain gets broken here. Deal?

1. I dated Jesus. (Okay okay, so he was playing Jesus in my high school's production of Jesus Christ Superstar, but hey. Close enough.)

2. I harmonize with dead people. (Okay, also related to a show I was in...)

3. I'm good at math. I just hate it, so it's easier to say that I'm bad at doing math so that I don't have to do it.

4. I still have one baby tooth. There's no adult tooth to replace it, and it's a canine, so it's right smack in the front and it makes biting into things kinda tricky.

5. I hate peas.

6. Those who have met me may have noticed that I buckle my belts to the side. I picked this style up from Peter Tork on The Monkees. And now I can't bring myself to buckle a belt in the center.

7. I have a really hard time coming up with things to say about myself. Ask me specific questions, get me on a particular topic, no problem. Say "Tell me about yourself" and I can't think of a damn thing to say. Thus, this meme was really difficult.

I might start Friday Yarn Pr0n tomorrow. I might not get the chance. Yay! Awesomeness!
